5 tips to better enjoy your workouts

Working out is a process. One simply doesn't wake up one day, head to the gym, and destroy a workout and then head home to watch Netflix. If anything it's the COMPLETE opposite: Talk yourself into getting out of bed, drive around a few minutes before parking at the gym, struggling through a workout and try not to throw up, then pick yourself up from the floor and try to make it back home to take an Epson salt bath and deal with the soreness for rest of the weekend.

If you're laughing right now, you know I'm right.

But it doesn't have to be this way. Here are 5 ways to get better and start enjoying your workouts:

1. Make a Plan.

Get your mind right the night before. Set your clothes down by the bed in the evening and make a conscious effort to get your mind out of the funk of talking yourself out of going to the gym. The mental game is just as important as the physical one.

2. Work on your Playlist.

Music is life. It fuels our moods. If you're happy, upbeat music tends to make you even happier. Same if you're sad. Take some time to set up a playlist that you absolutely love. Find all your favorite, upbeat jams and put them in an order that you know you will enjoy. A good playlist will pump you UP!

3. Find your Motivation.

Finding that ONE thing that you enjoy at the gym can make all the difference in the world. Maybe is stopping by the tanning bed on your way out, maybe is the cute guy at the front desk, maybe is that new machine or the the craziness in the Zumba class. One thing, that's all you need.

4. Partner Up.

The right partner can either make you or break you. You want to find the one that is usually getting started and in a New Year Resolution kick. Those people are awesome! They're driven, excited, and pretty much up for anything. That partner energy is contagious. Tag along with it and enjoy it.

5. Track your Workouts

It's important to know where you're going so you can stay on track. Keep a log of every workout: Track your times, weight amounts, reps, etc. Be disciplined writing things down. In a few months, you can go back to your notes and the progress will amaze you.

New year resolutions will fade quickly if you don't find the right motivation. Do not let the excuses creep in. If you need some extra tips, send me a message and I will help you find what works for YOU!
